Just to reiderate becasue some people viewing htis think they have proven something.
There is only one way to prove this thread. To race them both. everyone has great educated guesses. All are a joy to read. I didn't think people would become as passionate as they have about this topic. If you have a theory as to your opinion we are all glad to hear it and argue it. It would be great to keep the conversasion light hearted but for some that may be difficult. My prior post is open to anyone who would like to help test this theory. I imagine there is someonen who there who beleives the manual would win that Isnn't all talk. IF that person exist let me know and we can find a place this summer get some cars and have some fun......That is what Racin is all about.

If both cars were ENTIRELY STOCK, there is no way the auto would win, unless you had some dumba$$ driving the stick. You will have a lot more control over where and how a car shifts with a manual over the auto.
As far as the R/T and tree question, it depends on the track. Where I run, they used to run a .500 tree. Now they run a .000 tree. Do you think that he'd post a bunch of time slips of him redlighting? Does that make any sense?

This would kinda disprove the theory that manuals loose so much power because the rpm's drop when shifting. Also, how many good stick drivers wouldn't powershift or atleast give it a little gas between gears?

Very interesting comment on the fuel. It would be interesting to find out if that is the case. I was just joking with the guy with his time slips. IF you read the posts you will see that. I don't care if his TS are real or fake. It had nothing at all to do with this topic. 05 stang has differnt gears and will cause a diff in performance. Like I said and have said Racing on paper does not prove anything? Most everyone on this thread love to race on paper and think that it proves the manual wins? Look back and see that I am willing to meet this summer and test everyones theory so it can be PROVED. Either way I don't care who is right just looking to have fun at the track. It is kind of ironic how no one wants to do this yet they will race on paper and say I want change my mind cause there paper is the fastest??? We might as well take matchbox cars and toss them across the room. why does the NHRA waist money on the car. It appears everyone esle has there mind made up cause they do not want to prove/disprove the theory........

If both cars were ENTIRELY STOCK, there is no way the auto would win, unless you had some dumba$$ driving the stick. You will have a lot more control over where and how a car shifts with a manual over the auto.
As far as the R/T and tree question, it depends on the track. Where I run, they used to run a .500 tree. Now they run a .000 tree. Do you think that he'd post a bunch of time slips of him redlighting? Does that make any sense?
Corrrect me if I'm wrong (which I'm sure you will), but dont the 05 mustangs actually cut the fuel supply for a split-second when the automatics shift? This would kinda disprove the theory that manuals loose so much power because the rpm's drop when shifting. Also, how many good stick drivers wouldn't powershift or atleast give it a little gas between gears?
As far as gearing, a lot of times automatics and manuals will run different rear end gears because the gears in the tranny are different.
But, like 96Silver LT1 said, if you have your mind made up that a stock auto will beat a stock stick, think that way. You are the only one who can change your mind.
