It definitely looks aftermarket. If you don't know a lot about the device and/or you only have ONE remote for it, personally I'd rip the whole thing out of the car.
My last Jeep came with some weird looking card that had to be stuck into a reader on the dash or the car wouldn't start. It only came with one key & no info so,, I found the control module & removed it, less headaches that way!
