plug wire diameter

i need some new spark plug wires for my 94 gt. what is the difference between 8mm and 9mm wires? is one perferred over others? and are most wire brands pretty much the same quality?

Thicker wire. I would go with the 9mm. No some brands use lesser quality components to make the product.
