Default C-4 Transmission questions

I know this has been asked a million times, andI am a new member so please don"t flame me. I am just about ready to fire a pretty much complete 65 mustang rebuild with 9" rear, new rebuilt drivetrain, suspension and everything else. I am working on the transmission lines and linkage. It came with linkage(rod) that mounted onthe intake that I have replaced with a edelbrock and new accellerator linkagethat has the kickdown lever added going down towards the trans( also have a cable). The other problems is I am wondering why I can' t directly connect the trans lines to the top connection at the passenger side and was wondering if there is any adaptor that goes into the hole in the trans that the lines connect into. Also if anyone has any kick down linkage pictures I would really appreciate a few. My service manual doesnt show anything and the exploded drawings I have dont help.

Any help appreciated[:@]

Not real clear on this there is a fitting that goes in the trans. first then the line screws into it.NO you don't just screw the lines in the trans.

The cooler lines SHOULD screw straight into the trans. The lines should have their own fittings on them already and the lines should be flared. If the lines have been pulled from the car completly make sure you have the right end. On my 83 the ends where different, one had a longer fitting than the other. The longer fitting is what went into mine. I tried the shorter one but the line wasn't tight enoguh and leaked really bad.

But If you are having that much of a problem make sure your threads are not screwed up and if not go get an adapter and go that route.

There is an adaptor(brass with o-ring) that I was missing. Got a replacement and everythihng is OK. Motor fired right up and this should be a fun ride. Still can't figure out how the kickdown lever on the trans works as mine is at 8 oclock(parrallel) to the ground and it looks like it should be at 90degrees or 12 oclock. The linkage I changed has a bar that a cable hooks to and appears to need to pull the cable forward with WOT and pull the lever on the trans toward the front of the car. I wonder if I need a different trans lever. Cant find a picture of how it should look

Congrats on getting the fitting, my 83 didn't require one thats why I said what I did. Here is a pic I found awhile back to get my hardware straight. I have everything except the nut that is supposed to hold everything down.
