Cams Question

Might be a newb question, but how does the Alphabet cam system work? I mean, I've seen B303 and E303 cams, but I don't really know what they mean by the letters and such. Someone enlighten me.

It means they were designed 20+ years ago when we did not have near the cylinder head choices that we do now. Plenty of other OTS cams that will do a much better job.
