Default is running 22 degrees timing bad?

I have a 95 gt 5.0 mods on my sig, and i stabbed my dizzy in and i know im on point with everything, lining 0 to the pointer (tdc) and did everything right, and the car runs like sh*t untill i turn up the timing past 10 dergees, and at 14 degrees the car runs good but has little power, i bump it up to 22 dergees and it burns through 1st and half way through 2nd gear im thinking my balancer may have spun? but i took the #1 plug out and got it to tdc ( right as the cylinder started going back down the 0 on the balancer was lined up with the pointer could it still be spun? im a little stumped here need advice thankyou My fellow mustang owners
