Default Gas Gauge!!

My gas gauge on my 87 gt is messed, It moves up and down regardless of the level of feul in the tank. The only time it will work (luckily) is near empty, the gas light will come on. Is this problem hard to fix. Anyone else in the same boat.

I have a 2001 V6, and exactly a year ago I had to have the fuel tank sending unit replaced. I think it is not working again. [:@] I am pretty familiar with the miles I get in a tank of gas, or even a half a tank of gas...and it is just not adding up. And the gage will start moving towards empty and 2 min later is back closer to full... Now I am hoping there is a warrenty on the part they replaced exactly a year ago! Craziness!

Yeah, a year ago when I had it replaced they had to drop the tank. ::giggles:: I was not thinking about it and filled the tank up with gas before I dropped the car off---I am sure that made their day! I am probably gonna take it in this week. I am just wondering if in fact that is the problem why the unit only lasted a year?
