Default What Dont they Care About?

Hey Guys!

So, I'm Hoping to pick up an '08 GT Here pretty soon. My Problem is that My Vehicles Do Not Stay in their Stock trim for very long. I have always Driven Trucks, So this Scene is extremely new for me!

What Kind of mods Can I do that wont make the dealer think twice about doing warranty work. I Know that for them to deny you, they have to prove the Mod caused the malfunction. I had an F-250 with a Drop in K&N and my MAF Sensor went bad, and they denied me warranty work on it, Because they said the Oil from the Filter coated the Sensor and it went bad...Yeah, Ok.

Here's My Current Ride thats Most likely Up for sale:

'01 F150

6" Fabtech Lift
Edge Evolution Tuner (93 Octane Tune)
35" Nitto Mud Grapplers
20" American Racing RTS

I would think that if you stayed with Ford Racing's performance parts (aside from a blower) than you'd be safe.

Other than that, a nice axle back would be safe, if i'm not mistaken. I've never been one to stick to warranties, haha.

Real nice truck you got there, btw! Diggin' the wheels.

I actually HAVE heard of cases when an over-oiledair filter did slop oil onto the MAF [:@]so it does happen.

Why don't people who want to mod their cars SAY what they want from their car? Do you want to mod for power? looks? "Looks mods" are generally safe on warrantied cars.

Usually catback and CAI don't effect anything. Short throws are somewhat safe too.

Besure you know your stuff so if they claim one of those mods voided the warranty, you can fight it verballyand possibly win..

Thats what I would do if I were worried about a warranty. Talk to the dealership who will be doing the work before hand though. Ask them about ordering FRPP parts through them, and having them do the work to keep the warranty. If they say no, go to another dealer It has been done.

yes, overoiled k+n's have caused maf's to get out of whack but i dont think they need replacing... i think you would be okay cleaning them with some maf cleaner and a q tip (if its ruined oh well...5$ for some maf cleaner is worth a shot)

i would ask the DEALERSHIP what they care about...not a bunch of people who are guessing.

if they say you cant do anything to the car...you can always get away with a new midpipe and a CAI because those are relatively simple to change out...but dont net a huge gain. you can also throw in a nitrous kit if your willing to remove it anytime you have warranty work (and get 2 intakes otherwise they will see the hole in your intake from the nozzle unless you get a plate system and they know what the hole is for).

you can usually do a CAI and a catback...but again i do not know your dealerships rules. ask them if gears would violate the warranty even if they were installed by that dealership (you may get *** raped on installation though)

When I had my 07 GT I told the dealership service department that I planned on having them do some mods,They said as long as they did the work the Warranty would stay intact.Fast forward a couple of months,New service manager says that if they install some 4:10's and the engine takes a dump due to over-revving(WTF is the rev limiter for?),And they could prove it,It would be MY PROBLEM!Also was told anything that the gears affected would not be covered,They said if I twisted an axle.Yeah,OK,Show me a stock or lightly modded 4.6 that twists axles due to a gear swap,Even with slicks that would be a tough one to believe. So,Basically anything that they can see could affect you. They also can see when you have reflashed the computer,Even if you change it back to stock tune there is a "flash counter"in the 05 and up models that cannot be defeated. So,Buy them some beer, try your luck and mod away! That's what I do now. It's a dice roll at best.

...WTF is the rev limiter for?
You do know the rev limiter is there to keep you from going past redline, right? But still, if your redline was 5500 and you spend a lot of time constantly around 4500-5000 then you technically are over revving your engine.
