I thought about doing that too, just taking it off, but then I would have that base piece just there on the side for no reason. I dunno. lol I would not mind the short antenna, or however you spell it, I just don't know where to get one.

 

I ended up cutting mine to where it is only 10-12 inches long and i put one of those rubber tips that go on the end of the hook of a bungee cord on the top. i repainted it and it looks great, actually had someone comment on it last time i was at the track. best thing... cost=$0
