Where for Higher performance alternator
I am looking at buying some ud pulleys, as I know a lot of people ask about those. But this isn't really a question about those.
I want to know where I can get a heavier alternator for the loss of electric power. Is there another ford vehicle that I could rip the alt out of for a cheaper upgrade.
My friend with the same exact year car as me, (97 v6). bought these and they get drops in their voltage meter when they turn on headlights, brake while idling, etc.
But I have a mach 460 sound system, which they don't, and would I even get battery failure with that factored in?

RE: Where for Higher performance alternator
Make sure that it will put out more at the lower rpm. Otherwise you won't be better off. I have a 5.0 L and I just put underdrives on and had to go back to the stock 2 inch pulley. Someone, I think it was Demon_stang mentioned that possibly an overdrive pulley could be used. I don't know for sure but I'll bet it's likely that the 160 amp won't help out if the rpm is too low.
