Default Aftermarket Subs on a stock sound system

I have a 2003 mustang GT with a stock Mach sound system (6 CD changer). I recently bought a couple subs and an amp for the trunk and i was wondering if it is possible to hook them into the stock system or do i need to buy a new one?

absolutely. you need to go to a local car audio shop and ask for a hi-level adapter. basically you tie the leads that come with the box onto your factory sub (or in your case the rear speakers) and the box has rca input. plug the rca's up and you are ready to bump! hope this helps

VERY CHEAP AND EASY TO DO.YOU NEED A INPUT CONVERTER IT IS 6 OR 7 DOLLAR PART.WIRE IT TO YOUR REAR SPEAKER,LEFT OR RIGHT IT DOES NOT MATTER WHICH ONE.YOU WILL HAVE 1 POSITIVE AND 1 GROUND WIRE.SPLICE INTO YOUR SPEAKER WIRE AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD CONNECTION AND TAPE IT OFF.PLUG IN YOUR RCA CABLES FROM YOUR AMP TO THE CONVERTER BOX AND A REMOTE WIRE FROM THE AMP TO YOUR HEAD UNIT.THAT SHOULD BE IT.IT WORKED GOOD FOR ME,I RAN THE SAME SETUP FOR ABOUT A YEAR UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO UPGRADE.THERE SHOULD BE GAIN CONTROLS ON THE CONVERTER ITSELF,THAT IS THE MOST TIME CONSUMING PART FINE TUNING FOR THE SOUND YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.GOOD LUCK!

GT stereos will probably have the hookup for subwoofers, if not an aftermarket head unit with a bass level adjuster built in could cost around $200-$650 depending on the brand and features you want.

Your stock head unit most likely wont allow you to adjust the bass level from the unit itself.

Run an adjusting **** from your amp up front out of sight, this will help the quality level of the variation of music you want to listen to. (For rock or techno you might want less low frequency)
