v6 comes with a 7.5 inch rear end, GT and up have an 8.8 inch rear end. cobras have an independant rear suspension (IRS) thats also 8.8 (the gt's and machs just have a single rear axle (SRA)). drag racing wise a SRA is usually better than IRS.

is it the 03/04 cobra motor? if so that motor is forged and will take 6-700rwhp pretty easily.

is the tranny a 5 or 6 speed? if its a 6 speed its probably the t56 from the later cobra as well (viper spec tranny).

take as many pics of the car as you can. underneath front, rear, sides, under te hood, etc...

if i were to take a guess if that thing was 100% swapped he probably had a cobra and like MANY of the newb 03/04 cobra owners totalled it right after he bought it and bought a v6 to swap the parts in (few people on this forum have done that...swapped their cobra to a v6 body)
the motor is definitely the 03/04 cobra motor, just wasnt sure which one. it is a 6 speed, and im pretty sure none of the other mustangs come w/ a 6 spd. i'll get some pics asap!

Im curious to know if he kept the live rear axle, or swapped the IRS setup from the Cobra.

its not gonna be the 7.5 v6 axle that thing would have probably broken by now. my guess is the cobras axle. i'm still sticking to my theory that this guy owned a cobra, did something stupid, totalled it, and swapped all the parts over. or he found a cheap donor cobra and bought or had a v6.

there are emissions laws in certain areas where you cant put a bigger motor in the car than what came in it. if you claim it on insurance yes your only paying for v6 (lx i think) mustang insurance, but if you wreck the car then your gonna have problems. the insurance company wont pay to replace anything aftermarket (which all that stuff is considered because its not factory for the v6) if you dont have the aftermarket parts protection. i'd call your insurance company FIRST and get clarification on everything BEFORE you buy it.

The Cobra T56 is not Viper Spec.

Make sure of what everyone else is saying; rear end, trans, engine, and post pics, a lot of pics.
