Default spark plug wires

i wanted to put in a new set of plug wires but was wondering what brand to buy. i've seen the ford ones for only $45 but the accel wires for $105. i even found an auction for magnecor wires going for $145. magnecor 8.5mm spark plug wires wtf, i just saw a set of nology wires for $275. why are they so different in prices? any other brands to consider?

ok. i've narrowed it down to taylor, msd, or nology. any preferences? nology wires cost about $300 with an advertised 2-5% hp gain, increased torque and better acceleration.

Watch out what the manufacturer's claim on power gains. Many times their tests are done on Cobra's which start out life with a whole lot more stock HP and torque. Still, a good set of wires is piece of mind that all your cranking horses get through to your wheels. Also check out the condition of your coil(s) to be sure they are up to snuff as well. A coil breakdown can cause all kinds of nasty stuff at certain rpm's. I used to have a '91 Cougar XR7 with a 5.0 HO that I installed Ford Racing wires on almost immediately. Had the car a long time after that and ignition was never an issue. Also had the Mallory coil as well.

Unless I was dragging my car regularly and trying to get every 100th of a second out of her, I don't think I would spend $300 for wires. However, check out these cool new plugs on the market.....and only $5.99 each!

Good luck with your ride!
