I have a 2003 GT, can I put a pre 99 hood onto my car? I really like the look of the older GT hoods (though I'd do some handi work to remove the little side scoop thing). Just curious if the fit is exactly the same. I want to say I heard they are interchangeable without a notice-able difference...

 

no, they arent interchangable at all... im sure you could take one and do tons of fiberglass work to it, but thats the only way it would fit. if you like our hoods, without the little teardrop scoops, then i would look into finding yourself a cowl hood made for your body style.

 

It looks like more and more that nobody makes them, closest I've found is 95 cobra replica hood, or 00 cobra replica hood. But nobody makes a simple cowl hood. But those even have too much accenting or too much rise. I'm thinking the only option I like is the sn95 new edge cobra hood (either one). And with all the costs considered, I'll end up going carbon fiber. I just wish I could just get something simple.

 

yeah, about the smallest cowl hood you can find for that body style is 2.5". i personally wouldnt waste my money on carbon fiber unless you are trying for an all out race car where every pound saved helps. i dont find it that attractive. im not a fan of the hood being a different color than the car, looks unfinished to me, but then again its your car.
