Default traction-lok

A little while ago I posted about how to get both my tires spinning instead of just the rear right one. I got all kinds of answers, such as they DO both spin to only a GT can do that. Well, looking at Redlined Performance Mustangs, under their FAQ V6 section, it specifically says that the purpose of the traction-lok (rear limited slip differential) is to free up your left tire to spin with the right tire. So is this correct? Who is familiar with traction-lok?

The T-lock locks both the rear wheels together. without it only one tire spins however it spins the tire that has less weight. for example you and two friends each weight 175 lbs. There are two sitting on the passengers side. The left rear tire should spin because there is less weight on it. so in theory if you have an equal amount of weight on each tire they should both spin.

it isnt weight its friction. the tire with the least amount of grip on the road will spin freely while the other will sit still.

frank, get yourself a good limited slip and you will get 2 wheel burnouts

I don't think the V-6 has traction-lock and therefore will spin only the right rear. The right rear is the tire with the least amount of traction due to torqueing of the driveline under load while going forward. With traction-lok the spring loaded clutches connect the two wheels together and cause them both to break traction at the beginning of the tire spin. Once the tires start to spin the kinetic friction is easy to overcome and both tires keep spinning since the forces on both tires are similar once they break traction.

I believe an easy test to tell if you have traction-lock diff or not (well aside from doing a 2 wheel burnout lol)

Put the car in neutral and raise both rear wheels off the ground. Grab one wheel & spin it in a forward direction. If the opposite wheel also spins forwards then you have traction lock, if it spins backwards/reverse.. you have an open diff.

Even with an open diff it can be possible to burnout with both wheels given very specific traction to each wheel.
