Default 05-08 Mustang

OK the wife does not want her Jeep liberty after the lease is up. She now wants a 05-08 Mustang. All she asked is it must be an automatic and not black, no GT500, Roush, etc. It can be a 4.0 or 4.6. OK it her car I really don’t care as long as it safe and run good. So as for ride what is better 4.0 or 4.6? She not going to be racing it so is the 4.0 OK for power?

We have two 2008 mustangs , a GT(4.6) and a V6(4.0). The power in the V6 gives adequate acceleration, whether pulling into traffic or passing at highway speeds. The GT has a beefier suspension, thus it is a stiffer ride.

What about gas mileage as long as you stay out of the GT (LOL) about the same or not?

It is hard not to get "on it" in the GT. The V6 rated at 16/24 while the GT is rated at 15/23. The comparison onmy cars is not apples to apples. I drive the GT (manual transmission)around town some and on the highway when going to work and ~get 22mpg. The V6 (automatic transmission) is mainly around town and gets around ~18mpg.

I would test drive both. Also determine what interior comforts you want. We tried to get as cheap a model that we could in the V6 - it is our daughter's car - that still had traction control, ABS, and side air bags (I can't remember if side air bags are standardon all 2008 Mustangs). Our GT has most of the bells & wistles - it's my car! The V6 seats in our Stang are not near as comfortable at the leather seats inour GT.

Another thought is thatyou can get a V6 and if you later decide you want more power you can modify your car with a CAI (Cold Air Intake) and Tune. Ithink this would add about 40hp on a V6 automatic (someone correct me if I am wrong). This would be $600 to $700.

If she is not concerned with power, get her a V6 with the pony package.
