As a related question does anyone know if theres anything that can be done to quiet it a little?
The biggest thing that causes the extra noise on the aftermarket shifters is the fact that they all do NOT have the stock rubber isolators that ford uses in the stock shifter. This transmits the vibraton up through the handle and makes it noisier. MGW sells a boot that they say helps make it quieter. I do have the boot on mine and it is quieter than the tri-ax, so you could always order a boot and put it on the tri-ax. (The boot is not expensive)

oh wow, only 8 bucks! Nice =) The only thing is I dont have the factory boot anymore. The guy who had the car before me had it torn to hell soo i just threw it out when i put in the tri-ax. It looks like u need it for the mgw boot. Where can I find the factory boot?

No, you dont' NEED it, it just fits down over the top of the MGW inner boot to form a nice seal and makes it that much quieter. The MGW inner boot stretches down over the shifter itself. You might have to work at it a bit for it to fit onto the tri-ax, but it's rubber, so it should still work.

By the way, if you don't have ANY boot in there at all, that's bad on 2 counts.

1. That's why it's so damn noisy. The boots help block out the sound

2. The boots are to keep dust, dirt etc, out of the shifter.

You can probably pick up a new factory inner boot from a wrecking yard for very cheap.

Question for you peeps with a tri ax, which setting is your handle? All the way down for the shortest throw or at the top for a shorter than stock throw but driver comfort. Thanks Jimmy

I had mine on the highest setting, but it really depends on you. Your best bet is to put it where it's most comfortable. If it's awkward for you to reach it to shift, it's not going to improve your shifting.
