Octane Boosters
Thanks for all the response. As far as Methonol, there are only 3 stations in CA that sell E-85, and the closest one to me is almost 200 miles away! The 76 stations most all sell racing gas at 101 Octane, however at $6.65 per gallon, it's pretty spendy.
I was using it for trips in hot weather and steep terrain in a preventative maintenance kind of way. My DD doesn't knock but if it ever was going to the driving I was doing would bring it out. I noticed the motor to be a little more responsive but worry about valve burnout I've heard reported by some. I'd say pass unless your mill knocks...
I'm not understanding why you are seeking higher than 91 so bad...race fuel will do literally nothing for your car.
Is your engine knocking? If so, higher octane gas is only a band-aid, not a cure.
