Default Ford Racinc CAI

Does anyone out there have any experience with replacing the Ford Racing CAI, that comes stock on the2007/2008 Shelby GT. This is the 325 HP model, not the GT-500. I am considering a K&N or a BBK.
Thanks/ Bill

I am mystified by your reply? Wasting my time? I have a tuner and would retune for whatever CAI. Judging from your curious comment, you have no such experience with this issue, which brings me to, why in the world did you reply? Bill

Um, that's what I said, WITH a tune it would be worthwhile, w/o a tune I'd just keep the Ford Racing CAI.

Damn, why does everyone have to be so freaking defensive?

Sorry bb8, not defensive, just confused. I totally missread your first answer, sorry again. I supposemyreal question is; is anyone directly familiar with this particular Ford Racing CAI. They, Ford, first note that it is not from Ford, but, "Ford Racing Div." I don't know if an aftermarket CAI would move more air, the same or less. If there isn't a noticible increase in HP, then it's not worth the extra money. I have yet to find "Anyone" that has any direct knowledge! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Meh, it's ok. I kinda figured it was a misread. Anyways, the Ford Racing is obviously less restrictive over a factory air box like what comes on the GT's. Going and spending an extra $250-$300 to get a few more horses at the crank may not be worth it. It is to my knowlege that ford racing sells CAI for the GT's and are like $600! So whatever you have, I would personally keep it, unless you just want to have a diff look under the hood. Again, you may gain additional hp, but prob not enough to notice a difference. Just my $.02

Thanks Amigo! That is sort of what I thought, although, Ford, GM and the like can be pretty conservetive. All they really did was replace the CAI bump the timing and played with the MAF settings, to prod another 25 HP out of the Shelby GT.Do you know, are there specs. on air volume for any of these aftermarket CAI's. I really seems that they can make any HP claim they want to, without backing it up. Far as I know K&N is the only one to guarantee advertised HP claims. I have heard, through "Predator", that their techs have seen as much as 30 HP increase with the BBK. According to them this measurement was taken on a Dyno? Whod A Thunk It?
