Default Help Please ASAP!!!!

I'm changing my alternator but dont know how to get my tensioner back so it will let me tighten my belts again. Getting it off and loose was rather simple, but now im stuck.

My dad said something about using a crowbar but its too hard

You should just able to put a breaker bar or large ratchet in the tensioner and push it so you can slip the belt over it. Are you pushing in the wrong direction? It will probably be much easier to do with one person holding the tensioner back and another putting the belt on.

youre gonna have to remind me what car you have.

on my car there is a square that can fit i believe a 3/8" ratchet. stick the ratchet in this square hole and pull away from the center of the motor.

if you removed it all the way make sure you have the alignment dowel on the tensioner in the hole on the bracket, and it is much easier to use a ratchet as stated above, you may have the belt routed wrong also, depending on your water pump rotation is how the belt wraps the water pump pulley! everytime i take mine off i have to route it twice and i have done it a million times!
