Default 2001 Dome light stays on

My gf has a 2001 Mustang coupe. She has a problem with the dome light staying on sometimes. Sometimes it will stay on for long periods of time, and other times it works like it is suppose to.

Anyone know any suggestions or explaination for something like this??

It is quit bothersome, especially at night time when it happens to stay on. All the doors are securely shut and so is the hatch. It eventually cuts itself off somehow, I don't know if maybe after she gets in and out several times it manages to cut itself off or what. Please help. Thanks

its your headlight bean **** make sure it clicks into the off position. You can tell by turning the **** all the way to the right then to the left you can feel the click. That should solve your problem.

my '03 does that too dude. I seem to have fixed it though.

Lube the locking mechanism on the doors and open and close them a few times with a little force.....slam them [8D]

Also change the domelight bulb.

I don't know which one fixed mine because I did them both at the same time but it worked!

Not sure if the newer stangs are the same but I had the same problem on my 93. The little switch on the inside of the door jam that turns the light on and off needed alittle adjusting. If your car has it and when the light says on just push the button in with your finger and see if it goes out. It might be that simple.

I will try what you said mike. I have tried numerous times to just slam the door. Didnt work, but I will lube it up. I dont know where the switch is that lets the light know the door is ajar. I cannot locate one inside the door jam where they are usually located. Who knows?? Any other suggestions??

that is the exact same thing that happened to my gf's car. I wish someone had a explaination for this occurance.

Anyone know where i can view a diagram on how the door and the door latch operate to make the light come on.
