Default Signs of a bad trans/torque converter?

What are some signs that your trans/torque converter are bad or are going out? Also how can I get it checked and whats it cost?

well if the torque converter goes then the car will not move anywhere..i know this because it happened to my old roomates car and i was in it...and it will usually smoke if it is going to blow out..what is the tranny and how many miles on it...it is a auto obviously if it has a torque converter

if its an automatic slipping while shifting, slipping while accelerating, difficulty shifting into gear are some signs. drive the car for about 10-15 minutes to get the atf hot and pull the tranny dipstick, and look/smell the fluid. is it red?? does it smell burned?

Also if the TC is bad, it won't launch or spin. Also mine jumped in and out of lockup from 4-6k it would jump up and down.
