Default 2002 Mustang Rims

I have a 2002 Mustang Coupe and wanted to get some general information on some rims. Right now, I have 225/55/16 tires with 16 x 8 rims. Everywhere I look on the internet for 2002 Mustang rims, they show 17 x 8 or larger. Would my current tires fit 17 x 8, or would I have to buy new tires and rims? Also, is there a good web site that has 16 x 8 rims? Does it matter if the rims say 16 x 8 Cobra R rims? If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it!

A tire designed for a 16 inch rim will not fit a 17 inch rim, vice versa. Try www.tirerack.com or www.latemodelrestoration.com or www.americanmuscle.com for rims and tires.

ok, I understand that, but from all of the rims out there that are 16 x 8, does it have to be specifically for a 2002 mustang? Is a 16 x 8 rim for say a 1995 Cobra R, or just a basic 16 x 8 rim OK for the tires I currently have? (225/55/16)

as long as the rim size and the width are the same, and the lug pattern is the same it shouldn't matter

The rims offset also has to be correct for the car.

..Pfloyd,, why don't you just drive with your current tires till they are worn out, then replace tires AND rims? Get whatever size you want then..

Well see, right now I got winter tires put on the rims I currently have. I am basically looking for rims for my non winter tires. That is why it is kind of hard to find rims to fit the tire size...

new 16" rims would be tough to find , if you like the rims your winter tires are on i'd suggest switching them over come summer and gettin some cheap rims for your winters. you can probably find some cheap stock rims off a mustang used. just make sure the rims are for a 16" for a 99-04 and you won't have to deal with any spacing just bolt them on. i have some 16" rims off my 03, rims themselves are in good shape but 2 of the center caps could use replacing. however with shipping it wouldn't be worth it for you but just look locally i'm sure you can find something
