Default 1st gear pops out.

I recently bought a 95 gt. Lately when i take off in 1st. the gear pops out and make a very loud pop. Run just fine in all other gears and even first, but i have to hold it while in first so it won't pop out. Anyone had this problem with their manual tranny? would appreciate any response or help, need to see what i can do.
