Default Helmets

Drivers of all racecars must wear helmets. Drivers of cars running faster than 14.00 must wear helmets of minimum 95 Snell as required by NHRA. See NHRA Rulebook for details.
The above are the requirements of my track. Everyone is supposed to have a helmet. So now I'm in the market.

I'm assuming open face is preferable? I'd like to get something in black that is less than $150. Can someone give me a link? I looked on summit racing and they say nothing about snell rating (whatever that is) or being NHRA approved. Instead they are "DOT" approved.

Thanks

I would go full face. Look what happened to Dale E because of the open helmet.

Here is a link that might help.... http://www.smf.org/faqs.html

Yeah I read the snell foundation site today.

Seems like most SA 2005 snell rated helmets are kinda spendy though. $150 at summit. Kinda sucks how expensive that is.

These are pretty cheap:

I've used HJC helmets and have no complaints. (Not endorsing these helmets, nor the site. Just found the deal and tryin to help a buddy out)

You need to really go to a store and try some on. What might work for someone, might not work for you.

Go to a motorcycle gear store, and get a decent SN 2005 helment, try them on and get one that fits right. You can get a good one for around $100-120.
