Help! running way too rich
so my 88 mustang GT was stolen in october and oddly enough in october the previous year. anyways, since the last theft my car has been running like crap. nothing but problems.
but right now my car is running too rich. it backfires, you can smell raw gas in the exhuast fumes, and when i put my foot to the floor it blows blue smoke out the back but the smoke doesn't smell like oil burning it smells like feul. my timing is at 10 degrees, i had a rebuilt computer put in in november, which i hope is working correctly, but then the O2 sensors i know havent been replaced since 2000.
someone at my work told me it could be the O2 sensors, i took them out to look at them but was informed that they really should be tested. they were stuck in there and they're covered in black. i dont really have much money right now so im trying to get this fixed without killing myself. with all this feul injection and smog control and stuff i know there are a lot of different things that could cause this but im trying to fix this or replace these parts in the best order.
dos anyone have any tips, or maybe you've been threw this before? should i just replace the O2 sensors? any information would be useful. im dying with the fumes everytime i stop at a light.
thanks!

RE: Help! running way too rich
Try pulling a couple of the spark plugs and check them for rich operation. They will have a black sooty deposit on the center electrode. You could also have a weak ignition system.Look into a coil, cap, and wires.
