Default Warranty

I got an 09 Mustang and about to buy a full exhaust system for it next month.

I got the basic 3yrs/30k warranty, but installing that exhaust is definitely going to void my warranty.

Been hearing both sides why I should keep, and why the warranty is BS. What is your guys input.

If you EVER want Ford to fix ANY potential issue related to the engine- DO NOT INSTALL IT. Trust me on this. I've been on both sides- at the dealership and in the court room regarding warranty issues. Now-a-days, you can't even fix something on your car without potentially voiding the warranty (even if you're certified to do so).

With that being said- many people will simply swap out parts if there's a problem. Things like a CAI, and rear mufflers are easy to swap out. Your entire exhaust would probably be a pain to change out.

All right that's what I thought would need to happen. Thanks for the help.

No problem. I mean... I don't want to scare you from doing anything to your car. It's just that manufacturer don't like to pay for things- so if there's any way that can get out of it- they will. Blaming aftermarket parts for a particular problem is a quick and easy way they can void your warranty.

Enjoy the new car.
