newer car are programmed to run better at first start up but its always better to get her warm.

Computer controlled cars never run at optimum performance levels when they are cold because the computer is in open loop.

Just to throw this out there and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with car engines. If you start a liquid cooled 2-stroke engine when it is cold (like down around freezing) and immediately hammer on the throttle, you risk a good chance of the piston sticking in the bore. It's what is known as a cold seize. The reason it does this is because the piston expands faster than the liquid cooled cylinder. This is espescially common if the tolerances are a little on the tight side. Usually once it cools back down the piston will shrink back down and you can turn the engine over and restart it. How's THAT for some totally useless information?
