4.0l v6 07' Engine Swap
Why mod a 4.6L? Waste of money. You all fail and should have 5.4L to start with. I mean what you preach is start with the best platform right? Or is that only when it comes to V6 comments? Or maybe (crazy idea) some of us do this for fun, like to think and play outside the box and develop new things that people tell us are impossible.
I'm not whining. I was try to offer fact to the OP. For the money he was looking to spend on a V8 swap, he could have a very nice stand out V6 Mustang that meets his power needs. Then all the big bad V8 owners jumped in crying that people shouldn't mod V6 cars.
And Fobra, I have no 9 second slip. Why? Because I DON'T DRAG RACE - you know this. There's more to life than lasting 9 seconds and being proud of it. My car was built to be an open track car, and it does that very well.

You may not be whining but you are adding fuel to the fire. I do agree with you that the same money put into the v6 would make it very quick but you know why everyone bitches about modding sixxers? Cause its not cool. If you want to mod a 6 or a 4 banger buy an import. Muscle cars weren't meant to have less than 8 cylinders.
You know the reason people buy v6 mustangs?
-Parents want something 'slow' for their 16 year olds
-Old people don't want to go fast
-Can't afford a GT
I guess you could add better gas mileage for the sixxer but you could add that to the can't afford a GT.

I've got one more for your list of people who buy V6 cars.
People who got tired of the V8 crowd, how much they all end up the same and the lack of new and interesting ideas. And before you even say it, I had 6 prettty quick V8 fox cars and a Mach 1 as well as my sixer.... so don't tell me that it's because that's all I've known in the Mustang world.
Oh, and a little secrete, MUSTANGS AREN'T MUSCLE CARS. They are pony cars. Learn the difference.
And yes I add fuel to the fire. I'm standing up against a close minded way of thinking - that you MUST have a V8. But go back and read threads that turn into this. It's always the V8 crowd who starts trash talking the sixers first. What does that tell you?

Hey guys. I'm thinking of replacing my stock 4.0L V6 with something with a little more giddy up. I've had my eyes on Ford Racing's 351 V8 but have doubts that the engine will fit in my engine compartment. I've been trying to find my engine dimensions so i can compare them to the larger engine at 38.50H x 36.00W x 36.50D. Can you guys give me any insight on if this is possible?
just buy a Saleen Extreme and get the 600 hp tune. It will cost $15,000
just buy an older GT swap the transmission, put a forged internal kit in, get an eldebrock supercharger and push 900 horsepower. Then buy my suspension kit to put to put it down. It will cost $20,000
just buy a gt500 and get the 600 hp tune, it will be slower than the saleen and cost $15,000
swapping engines would be an inferior option in all cases.
hope to see you with a badass car.
I have a 97 Cobra. Nothing like the rush of hitting second and third and feeling the pull of that motor. It's all stock. I love it.
That being said, I frequent most all of the forums in here, including the sixxer forum because I am interested in what EVERYONE is doing with their cars. I find it intriguing what the sixxer crowd does with their cars. I know they can make them run, and run well. They like the idea of doing something different, or perhaps its the only car they have and they are trying to make to most of it. I applaud that.
To the OP - that car is so new that if you go swapping in a motor, especially a pushrod motor, you'll devalue the car like crazy. If you want to get some performance out of your six, look into what is available, get advice from the sixxer crowd, and go that route. If you want a V8 - sell that sixxer and buy a GT or an older Stang. Don't butcher that newer car unless you don't care about it's value - because as soon as you tear it apart to make the swap it won't be worth much, except to people who are interested in such a thing (a minority). Just my .02 cents...

Thats just what I'm saying roush. You know thats exactly why everyone bashes the sixxer. They think its not cool. I guess I'll rephrase this as well. Pony cars shouldn't be made with a six in them.
Seeing a nice mustang is like seeing a beautiful woman. You walk up to the car and lift the hood and there lays a v6. It's like taking that chick home and pulling her panties down only to find out she has a dick. Most guys don't like that but I guess some of you do.

alright guys. i see both sides have perks. Yes the V6 will be more affordable to go about, but the larger displacement almost always has the upperhand. im just surprised that in a few days you guys are already bashing each other about v6 vs v8
