i was just looking in a magazine and saw the G Tech Pro RR and was wondering if anyone has used it and if it actually works accurately.

You will get a ton of opinions on this, I feel that they are not that accurate, I have tested them at the track and had them show within a tenth of a second, which is good, but then had them read a half second or more different on the street. IMO just go to the track and get a real time, or if you do use one always use it on the same road in the same spot and don't claim the numbers as what your car runs, use it as a tool for tuning.

I believe there are little weights and whatnots inside the thing.
But how can that account for a low gear?

The thing's not as accurate as a true set of timing lights at a dragstrip, or a chassis dyno for measuring hp/torque. But I hear they do do a surprising amount considering they're fully self contained.

The contain accelerometers that can measure rate of speed change. You need to plug in your vehicle's weight, and it calculates based on that, how much hp it would take to move that weight at the rate it's measuring.

==> Check this out <== to see how accurate they can be

they're not accurate at all. at least when i used it. it couldn't even do my 0-60. i went 0-65 just to be sure, but apparently, the g-tech didn't think i went 60. so by the time i came to a dead stop, it said 22 seconds. tried it again and went to 70 and this time it said my 0-60 was 8 seconds. glad i didn't pay for it. friend gave it to me cause he said it doesn't work worth a damn. now i believe him.

Used properly.....along WITH a proper working unit, they are about dead on (as far as 0-60 and QM). The older ones were pretty much dead on with the times but +3 mph on the QM. I always got it centered at 0 in my level garage, having it on standby till I got out of the neighborhood. Then I stopped, and hit the start........and zooooooom. It would be alot cheaper on Ebay though. I didnt buy mine for a personal track day, but because it was consistent and I knew what mod setups worked and what didnt work. Seat of the pants can be way off, so in that respect I have been very happy with mine.
