Default fitting 5.0 in pinto question

Currently working on a project where i'm trying to hook a 1988 5.0 to a 1968 toploader four speed. Anyone ever heard of removing the crank and sending the harmonic balancer and crank off the 88 motor along with the flywheel from the 68 to a machine shop to have them balanced to each other? I don't want to mess around with new clutch/flywheel. Just want to put a fresh motor in a old street rod. Or perhaps you know of a way I can mate the two of them together?
