Default Is this a 4-1/2 bolt circle? Please help...

I need to know if the pic below is a 4-1/2" bolt circle? I know this is kind of a stupid question. I guess what I am asking is if you placed a similar tape measure in the same exact way on a rim that would fit a 1994 Mustang; would it look like the picture does? Could some please take a look and maybe send me a pic of a rim that you know fits a 1994 Mustang using a tape measure in a similar manner. I do not own a Mustang and can not 100% verify the rim in the pic will fit a 1994 Mustang.
I need to know because I have a problem that I need help with. I sold a set of ROH ZR6 wheels on eBay to a girl in Canada and she claims that the rim doesn’t fit. I explained in the auction that the rims are 17x8-1/2” ROH ZR6 rims with a 4-1/2” bolt circle with 6” of back spacing. I stated that these rims may fit a Mustang (but didn’t give a specific range of years). I also asked that the buyer please check there vehicle to make sure the rims fit.
I think she is trying to scam me and get her money back. At first she claimed to have been restoring a Mustang for a couple of years and needed the wheels to get it on the road. But now she is claiming that she has a 1994 Mustang and that she already has four ROH ZR6 rims and needed the rims to replace one damaged rim. She avoided all questions about the number of lug nuts, bolt circle, back spacing, and year of the Mustang she had. This makes me think that she didn’t know what all that means and bought a set of rims that will fit a Mustang but not the year she has. I think she did some research to see what year Mustang uses a 4-1/2” bolt circle and she now claims that she has a 1994 Mustang. She claims they don’t fit and that I gave the wrong specs in the auction. I think the real problem is that she has an older mustang, such as a 1965 or 1967 and did not pay attention to the specs given. Are all five lug Mustangs a 4-1/2” bolt circle, regardless of the year? To make matters worse she paid way too much for the rims. The auction closed at $150, but by the time they were shipped and she paid the import fees, it came out to $500. So even if she did have a 1994 Mustang, she may feel that she paid way too much for these rims. But it is not my fault that she lives in Canada.
I thank you all in advance for your help provided. Thanks, Shimaze

I'm thinking those pics show a rim with a 4" bolt circle. You measure from the CENTER of one hole to the center of one of the most distant bolt holes.. correct?

No, most places say to measure the bolt circle from the outside of one hole the middle of the other hole. Check out this link http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html#patterns

I do appreciate your response though! Thanks, Shimaze

I got my test from this place

So, who is right? How much is that bolt circle?

I don't know who is right? I did an AutoCAD drawing and came up with a 5/16 difference between your method and mine. I am not an AutoCad expert, but I was real careful in getting the dimension. Using a program like AutoCAD is the only accurate way to determine which method is correct. But it appears as if neither method is deadest accurate. Your measurement comes out to be 4-3/8, while my method yields a 4-11/16. I would say the rim I sold is a 4-1/2 bolt circle. If you look at my AutoCad drawing and compare it to the method I used to get the bolt circle, you can see that the AutoCad drawing explains why there is approximately 3/16 more than the 4-1/2 measurement needed to qualify as a 4-1/2” bolt circle rim.
The real test would be to get a pic of a similar ruler placed in same exact manner as I did in the pic above. If your ruler matched mine, then I would say that the rims I sold do fit a Mustang. If the pic was different, then I would say the rims do not fit a Mustang. I feel the best way to resolve this issue is to find a proud Mustang owner that is near Cincinnati, Ohio and pay them $10 to let me take there wheel off and take a picture of it. I would need to use the same ruler and place it in the same way. Then I could have a picture to compare mine with. I do know the rims I sold are smaller than a 4-3/4” bolt circle because I tried them on my Camaro. The rim’s bolt circle was smaller than the Camaro’s 4-3/4” bolt circle.

Thanks for all your help. Shimaze

On a five lug, you measure from the backside of the first hole to the center of the second hole. So what your picture shows is a 4 1/2" bolt pattern.
Hope that helps!
