Hey, I have a 2000 ford mustang. I took the car for a wash this morning and right after that, the service engine soon light appeared and the exhaust started to pop and smells. Can water in thre muffler or somethings like that can cause a service engine lights?

go to autozone and have them read the code then post back. theres 9 million things that could cause the light so without knowing what the computer is throwing there is nothing to be said for your problem.

did you wash the engine compartment? if so water my have gotten around one of the boots on your coils.that caused a problem for me in the past,if it is the problem it should dry up and be ok, there is a chance it could ruin a coil but that didnt happen to me.
