ok well your taking the owners word for it. if its salvage title it was probably reported to carfax. what does carfax say about the reason for the salvage title?

salvage title cars are worth nothing for resale value. thats why its so cheap.

HOWEVER, that doesnt mean its a bad car either. there are a ton of cars that get "totalled" by insurance companies because they either mis-calculate repair costs, or assume things are way beyond repair when they really aren't. so it may not be a bad car, but i would 100% HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED HEAD TO TOE BY A SHOP before even considering buying it.

you also have to remember, that salvage title car will be worth almost nothing in a few years. its probably not even worth 8500 right now either (and i personally wouldnt buy it for 8500$), in a few years you'll be lucky to get a few grand for it.

If the car has been rebuilt and looks great, passes all scrutiny buy it! But that said better plan on keepin it! Because it will be hard to sell later!

Unless you plan on keeping the car forever or plan on racing it, I would pass. i only buy clean titles

Aww man if you're 16 stay the hell away from it. The last thing you need is to finance this car only to end up with it being a money pit and not be able to sell the thing. For 8500 you can get a great car with a clean title. Even a Mustang.
