changing speedometer
I'm in the process of switching out my 85 mph speedometer to a 140 mph speedometer. Do I need to cahnge anything else such as a gear in the tranny, etc. I have a 1987 Mustang GT convertible, 5 speed, 5.0.

Thanks for any input.

I've been told it's a straight swap. The spring tension on the needle is what controls the sweep across the face, so there will be more tension on the 140mph speedo. Nothing you have to worry about. Just don't ever take the needle off!
No problem.
I took my needle off and I'm about to throw an aftermarket speedo at it. I'm tired of it being way off. It reads low at low speeds and I think it reads high at high speeds, but the odo is correct. Blah.
