Well, with the high gas prices now I have been trying to find ways to make things cheaper.

I have calculated that they come out the same in price, so which would be better. Or which would you rather have?

It all comes out the same price anyways. $3-5 more for the premium or $5 for the octane booster. Have a nice day. Sorry to spoil your poll.

Here is what I do. When I want power and performance I'm using my 93 ocatane highway ignition map. When I'm cheap I load my 87 octane map. I can do this in 2 minutes, just connect my laptop to megajolt via serial port, load up the file, upload it into megajolt controller, done.

It's important to note that a performance tune for 93 octane gives better MPG than an 87 octane tune. All due to thermal efficiency, just like raising the compression of your engine. But still 87 is cheaper.

For you Valcore, buddy, megajolt is god damn bolt on. Bah. A $60 out of your pocket. Let me know if you need a 93 cobra map for it, or if you want one build. I'm a pro with those, I even have my own configuration software line for megajolt.

Originally ECC-IV controlls EDIS-8, megajolt takes that role when you install it. You would run PIP line from megajolt into EDIS-8, you would also run SAWPW from EDIS-8 to megajolt AND to ECC-IV. That's your installation right there, other thing you'd need is to run vacuum line to megajolt, and provide +12V and -12V (can take those from EDIS-8 as well). Installation is that easy, I'd take my time and make the install as clean as I could possibly do.

As far as programming goes. You could use a PC laptop or computer, a Mac laptop or computer, even a PDA. Connection is made using serial port, serial cable could be as long as 150 feet. If your laptop does not have a serial port there are USB to Serial adapters available. A laptop is the best when you are fine tuning your map for performance, since access to real time data is required when you drive the car.

Make it easier for yourself. Just get mid grade...

Octane boosts aren't really all that good and only add a couple of points to your gas octane rating at best. The added cost for the typical octane boost would either be more or the same as if you had just purchased premium grade fuel to begin with. Leave it to the experts......buy premium or at least 89 instead of 87....that's what I do and my car runs strong.
