2011 GT RPMs when shifting into idle
Hey guys, I'm brand new here and I've been doing a couple searches around this forum and others about a possible problem with my RPMs dropping when I shift from any gear back into neutral. I see other people have had similar problems to the point that the engine stalls out. Mine is not that bad and it will usually drop only maybe 100 rpms below the standard idle which is usually anywhere from 600-750ish. It never drops below 500 but will sometimes drop to around 550 or so.
I am not too knowledgeable about cars and am wondering if the car has been doing this since I bought it 6 months ago and I am only noticing it now. Is this slight rpm drop normal when shifting back to neutral? The car is completely stock with only 8,000 miles on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot to mention that after they drop to around 550ish, the rpms immediately begin to rise back up to around 600-750ish and level back off within 3 or 4 seconds. I know most of the responses I have read to other threads mention cleaning the throttle body. Does anyone know if that sounds like it could be causing this?

What MPH's are you usually doing when suddenly shifting into neutral? My car tends to somethimes not all the time ALMOST stalls out when im accelarating in any gear and then if I suddenly shift it into neutral and apply some brakes the rpms drop way down like you say then jump right back up to normal idle. I just think its something thats happens only in those circumstances with mustangs..its sorta a very Common issue among mustang owners from what I gather..

That sounds very similar to me. It's usually if I'm shifting into neutral before i even begin to step on the brake and its most noticeable if I am in bumper to bumper traffic and I'm starting from a dead stop, accelerating through first gear, and immediately shifting back into neutral to coast to a stop.

I'm not sure really. It's such a minor drop in RPMs that I dont really notice it unless I'm looking right at the dashboard so I'm wondering if it has been going on for a while and I just never noticed it until now. I only noticed it about 3 days ago and since I've noticed it, it hasn't become any worse or better.
