Thinking about a 07 V6...
Yes "from what I hear". You ever been to the S/S section of this site? There is some good info there, and if you really had half a brain, you would google the 1/8 and 1/4 times for a N/A 4.0L with nitrous shots and then use those sources to counter argue your point.
Please don't waste this forums time with your limited knowledge and extreme bias. It only reflects poorly on us all.
@antonio; Lol I think this guy has a serious hatred towards understanding what he is reading... That, or he simply has no understanding of what the hell he is talking about.
Now back to the subject.. OP seems like a really good deal. Carfax is your friend her bro. Also, if I were you, I would take it to a reliable mechanic (no shade tree pls). Let us know how it goes! GL!
aaquib Either that or if he drives a GT (I can't see MFer's sigs or info on mobile site) he must have those two extra cylinders lodged so deep where the sun don't shine that he fails miserably at even coming up with a good argument lol. Funny how some are so cocky about owning a GT that it hurts them hearing that a V6 can keep up with them.
false. v6s have more than enough reasons to get them instead of a gt in certain situations
tis our life lol
s197 v6s with some light modding can definitely hold their own against sn95s, just as the 11s will with the s197 gts.
and this is "general tech" because he wanted to hear people give him information about the overall reliability of the car...so its relevant
apples and oranges? its speed vs speed. its irrelevant how many valves they have...its however you can get there quickest.
you have like 30 posts. shut your mouth

WOW, you must have some sort of awesome v6! You do realize that the old 4.6 is a two valve right? That's apples to oranges in other words. I know of plenty of mustangs that stomp all over dodge vipers. Whoop de doo. And im pretty sure since the op is looking at an 07, he want the s197 body style. So let's stay on those and forget about your super sixxer beating on sn95s

oh yeah lol, didn't respond to OP
i got my 07 with 46k miles on it, VERY clean pony package for $12,900. Leather makes a huge difference in how nice the car feels...i feel like there arent enough people that praise it on these forums. I haven't had any problems with mine so far, I've only had it for a year though and im pretty sure the lady that had it before me took very good care of it.

^+1
Especially the leather, although it is of a slightly harder plastic-y variety (you're not getting alcantra leather in a mustang lol) it is VERY durable, and resistant to fade and tearing.
I've had mine for about a year now, and given it zero conditioning (other than vacuuming) or washing and the leather is as dark (black) and perfect as they day I bought it.
As I said before, the 4.0L was used for years in the ford lineup (older variations of it of course) and was pretty much perfected in the rangers and the v6 S197. Low on power from factory perhaps, but very reliable, can be beat on, takes boost relatively well for a stock motor (keep it low!), and the automatic transmission in these cars is a fairly good match once all is said and done. Of course steeper gears would wake the car up, that will run you a pretty penny.

Maybe they are even, since it's 2V to 2V? You are right, though - there are Mustangs that stomp Vipers... my V6 is one of them.

OP - The S197 V6 motors are stout (4.0L and the 3.7L). It's enough power for 90% of the people who buy Mustangs - which is why Ford makes and sells more of them. Have it checked out. If you like it, get it and be happy. That is what really matters at the end of the day.

I am by no means telling you not to get a v6 but keep your eyes peeled for well priced GT's. As an example before picking up my 09 I sold my 2005 Mustang Gt for 14,000.00. I did not want the 09 I was eye balling to disappear from the dealership so I priced it on the low side but it was paid for so no biggy. I owned the car for 4 summers and in that time I amassed 7800 kilometers/5000 miles. I had applied 193 hand coats of polish/wax etc so the car was mostly flawless except for 1 small rockchip. I had the car painted with 1970 302 Boss striping, authentic Roush rims/Michelin Pilots for tires, tint, Flowmaster exhaust, Steeda springs and a few other minor mods. Like I stated at the start your best bet is to look around ie internet, dealerships, Kijji eBay etc etc and you just may find a deal to sweet to pass up either 6 or 8. Happy hunting and good luck
