So I bought an 01 GT for $3500 back in Sept. With that price came a few issues I needed to fix. I replaced the Clutch because the previous owner put it in wrong, but I have since found out that the motor has been taken out at some point. So i dont know it if was just worked on or replaced. In the event that they replaced the motor with a Late-01 or newer motor would the old transmission work? I need to get the transmission rebuilt so I'm not sure if i should have the motor checked out beforehand.

 

I would think you would want to identify the engine first before making any changes to the trans.
