I was just curious if anybody knows if the Tremec 3650 transmissions used on late 2001 Mustangs and on can be swapped directly into a pre-2001 Mustang that has a Borg-Warner/Tremec T45 without any modifications.

 

im sure you'd have to swap out the bellhousing, but dont take my word for it

 

If yuor installing it on a 96 or newer 4.6, you shouldn't have a problem.If you go to installed it on 5.0 block then you have to change out the bell housing.</P>

 

In case anybody else is curious, I found out from DaSilva Racing in Canada that the Tremec 3650 will bolt up to a pre-2001 GT that originally had a T45 without any modifications, and all that is required to change is the speedo sensor. The 3650 is about 30 mm shorter than a T45, but the driveshaft has plenty of room to allow for that.<edited><editID>USAMuscle</editID><editDate>37972.9061689815</editDate></edited>

 

Fix the tranny before you but it in. Got to love that second gear grind. Can't wait for Ford to release the TSB for that.</P>
