i drive my car every year, all winter and have never had even the slightest problem.
Get 4 good SNOW tires, not those sh1tty good for nothing all season tires. REAL snow tires and you will be fine.

Make sure to let off the gas when going into a turn, then halfway through, nail it. 
no seriously though, its kinda like driving in heavy rain... allow extra room for stopping, only brake in a straight line and if you gdo get a bit sideways in aski, point the wheels in the direction your going. Also be smooth with your turning... no herky jerky movements.
