Biggest tire width you can fit on a 2007 mustang?
I've been looking at purchasing some street compound Mickey Thompson tires, but it's not really worth it unless you can actually see the width difference. I'm wondering if I could fit like 15"s tread width on the rear wheels of my car.
If not what is the biggest tread width I can fit on my car? And can someone link me to a site where I can find such tires.
Also is there anything I would have to do to fit bigger tires on the rear wheels?
Current rim diameter is 18", and the width is either 8.5 or 9".

Your 2007 18" wheels are 8.5" wide, which means that you should not even be looking at tires wider than 255/45-18 unless you're also looking at wider wheels.
18 x 9.5 x ET+45 wheels will support up to 285/40 (this was the early GT500 rear wheel and tire setup). 18 x 10's in ET+43 will also work with that size, and possibly 295-wide tires. ET is shorthand for offset.
With a very careful choice of offset 18 x 11 wheels will fit back there with 295/35-18 tires. Google Vorshlag.com
