Default exhaust question

hello I'm new to the mustang forums as well as the vehicle itself. i just recently purchased a 2014 v6. i was looking at different exhaust and found one that i liked. i was wondering if this would fit, and would it sound the same. every video i see or picture shows a GT, but when i go to the ford racing website, it is listed under a power upgrade. here is the link. http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...KeyField=12242
it is a 2011-14 FORD MUSTANG FORD RACING GT500 AXLE-BACK EXHAUST KIT GT - S197

another question is since i own a v6, and the video i checked out was a GT, will it sound the same? here is a link to the video.

also, if it does fit, and i get it installed, exactly how much extra horsepower does it give me?

and if it isn't comparable for any reason, can anyone recommend a different exhaust that sounds the same? any and all information is welcome.

It will not sound like the GT. The engine has as much to do with sound as the muffler type. You will not see any horsepower gain that is noticeable. It may not fit based on pipe size and mounting.

You really need to look for V6 specific mufflers.

I agree with Pete, you can't get a V6 to sound like a V8 no matter what you do.

And don't believe that vid, they just want to make the sale.

Go to american muscle. They will have fitments listed and often have videos.

Hey,

Welcome to MustangForums and congratulations on your new purchase, you will absolutely love it!

As far as exhaust go, like others have mentioned, you wont get the same sounds you are hearing in the video. The GT and V6 engines are just too different to produce a similar sound.

With that being said though, you can certainly still give the V6 cars an awesome tone. The Ford Racing system you picked out is a great choice, they offer several axleback options and from personal experience they certainly have a nice sound.

You may also want to look into the Borla and Flowmaster systems, they have a nice sound as well and would be worth looking into. We have a couple of sound clips of systems on a V6s as well, take a look and see what you think.

I hope this information helps, and if you have any questions feel free to get back in touch. Best of luck!
