5r55s rebuild break in period
Hi,
I have found little to no input on this subject. I recently had the transmission rebuilt in my 2010 GT. The tech said there will be a break in period while the new bands get seated and the computer re-learns itself.
After 300+ miles I am still getting a shudder between 1st & 2nd gear and some noticable at various low RPM's. Does anyone have experience with this or any input??

"Should not have issues by now. The computer relearn happened a long time ago, and even if it needed to 'relearn', there wouldn't be shudder, just improper shifting. Shudder is not normal with new bands. "
I have been trying to educate myself as to what is causing this specific symptoms because the tech just feeds me some BS like "the way I torque the bands down makes the shudder but it should go away in 200-300 miles" I am making arrangements to drop it off so it can be corrected, I don't even want him messing with it any more but now I'm committed. This guy has a tranny shop 2 doors down from a mustang tuner yet it seems he knows nothing about ford trannys. This is the 2nd time the trans has been rebuilt also due to planetary, the 1st time I didn't experience any of this. Likely time to invest in tranny fluid cooler. It feels like now it is starting to slip at hi-way speeds on throttle. When I drop it down into 1st it still shudders so I don't think it has anything to do with the computer or shifting, likely something in the driveline.

I was able to remedy my issue by replacing the driveshaft. Although it was fine before the tranny rebuild, I suspect the center shaft bearing was damaged while being forced off the tranny yoke, it did have some miles on it.
There were some noticable performance gains with the direct bolt in steeda (spicer) one-piece driveshaft, $699 shipped.
