Default Radio display

My new to me 2011 Gt radio display appeared to be a scratched mess. I removed the radio trim and there was a cratched up grey piece of flexible plastic ( about as thick as a zip lock bag) covering the plastic display. It easily peeled off. I assume it was there to prevent the plastic display from scratching. Is it OEM or did the previous owner install it to keep the display from scratching? Could i glue glass to the front of the display?

It could be the oem plastic. why don't you just buy a removable plastic cell phone scratch guard and cut it to size. You don't want to be gluing anything to the face plate. It could react with chemicals and turn cloudy.

How do you get the black plastic faceplate out to install the plexiglass?

So is the radio face plate scratch free now? If so it's your car now and there's no reason to touch the face plate. If dusty just use a small California duster to lightly knock the dust off then clean if necessary with a wet eyeglass cleaning tissue.

It has a strip of thin adhesive around the edges and I pried mine out with a pocket knife....once it releases on a corner it's pretty easy!!
