Need help! Thumping from rear left tire!
I have a 2001 Mustang Gt. She has about 112,000 miles. The issue I am having is a thumping noise. Almost like a flat but not quite as violent. It also increases/decreases with tire speed. It has brand new tires and rims. It doesn’t always make the noise sometimes it’s non-existent sometimes it’s non-stop. Do you guys think it could be wheel bearing/hubs or suspension related?
Thank you guys for the help,
Kyle

The area the rim interfaces with the hub is critical.
If the hub face is not flat and true (no axial run-out), the rim will not set perpendicular to the axle center line.
The displacement is exaggerated out at the wheel edge creating a wobble as the wheel rolls.
You may need to replace the axle, which is really easier to do than you might imagine.
