I have a 2015 Mustang V6 Convertible and every time I start the car the trunk pops open. Anyone have any suggestions? A new latch cast $161,84 and I am not sure it needs one, Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

With the 04-14s, there's a release hatch relay in the engine compartment
fuse-relay center. Yours is Fuse #16, I think... Pull that, see if it happens
again. If not, then you need to nail down the short on start-up.

Also, if you put the key in, then turn RUN without starting, does it pop?
Accy position, does it pop?

 

Mine does not use a key, just a start button. I will look for the relay. Thanks

 

Yes, okay, you have to be on the brake for it to start with the button.
So, get in, keep your foot off the brake, and push the button, that will
be the same as "RUN" position. See if the trunk pops open...

I did not see a relay for the 15+, just a fuse designation.

 

Thank you. Just tried you suggestion and it did pop open when I pushed the button with my foot off the brake. I guess I have a short or maybe a bad relay. Do you have any idea where to start looking? Trying to find a wiring diagram online, not having any luck so far.

 

Pull fuse#16 first, it should be in your user manual.

After you pull the fuse, see if it pops when you press the button.
This to be sure it's going through the appropriate circuit when it pops...

I do not see a relay designation for it, I do with the 05-14, but not the '15

 

Please advise if you got this issue solved.
