Default Electric windows do not work -- help

My electric windows on my 2004 Mustang GT convertible suddenly stopped working. They were down but I continued to "fiddle" with the switches and finally got them up but they do not work at all now. I checked the fuses under the dash and under the hood and all check good. I even changed the 20 amp circuit breaker under the dash but no results. There is power at the circuit breaker with the ignition switch on and none when off (as it should be). There is no power at the window switches. If I connect a jumper to the red wire at the window switches all the windows work as they should. What is wrong???? What about merely finding the red wire under the dash, cutting it and connecting it directly to the battery through a regular 20 amp fuse? Would this cause other electrical problems? I purchased the car about 8 years ago and the fog lamps, buzzer when the door is open and the key in the switch, the dome light when the driver door is opened has never worked. I wonder if this is any clue as to why the windows will not roll up and down. Thanks for any suggested that you can provide.

well... durn.
Possible the electric motors in the windows are just worn out, the brushes all clogged up.. A gentle tap on the motor might free them up, but sure hard to get to them I'm sure...

I have had this happen a couple times on my 02 GT convertible and believe it or not the fix was to hold the button and slap the bejeezus out of the door panel next to where the window motor is. I only had to do it a couple times and haven't had to do that in at least 5 years but it worked. It won't cost you anything to give it a whirl.
