Waking up a 351 advice
Hey all, Im new to this forum and having trouble finding some blokes with a bit of knowledge on the old fords and browsing through some of these forums gives me the impression that you fellas know your stuff. Ive been trying to get some answers from heaps of other forums and just getting hammered from blokes who think they know it all because they're brother in law let them help change a tyre on an old chev back in the nineties.
I've a got a stock 351 Windsor in a 69 cougar that I'd like to build up a bit and give it a bit of character with an aftermarket camshaft. However I've found that putting in a cam that gives at least a noticeable idle requires something a little more heavy duty than what the stock heads can offer.
Currently the engine was bought recently rebuilt and is running fine. I am using a weiand stealth manifold, msd dissy and coil, edelbrock 650 carb. The diff is a 3.00 open 9 inch. Fmx transmission with what I assume is the stock torque converter
This car will only be driven on the street so I'm not building a rocket ship. A bit more power would be nice but having a meaner rumble is critical.
My questions are:
What is a suitable combination of heads, camshaft, converter, and diff gears to achieve this? Particularly which exact parts have people used which have worked in conjunction with other parts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and if someone has an example of what they've done in a similar circumstance and uploaded a video so I can hear how it runs would also be awesome.
