Default clutch pedal adjustment

Looked at some previous posts on this but i had a different question. I recently changed my clutch on my 1995 gt. My clutch pedal would engage right off the floor which is too low for me. I recently (probably incorrectly) pryed clutch fork forward and lifted pedal to get quadrant to adjust. After this now my clutch pedal (friction point i guess you would call it) is almost all the way off the floor. My service manual is about useless. It is all stock without firewall adjusters or such. I am sure i am doing this wrong. Any help or advice would be gladly appreciated. Thank You!!!
